A couple of years I got into the streetwear culture and started a collection of Nike sneakers. As I further progressed into developing a sense of style, it used to be all about a colourful printed t-shirts on a good pair of denim, with a snapback. As an architecture/design student now, I have been influenced by a lot of things around me. The streetwear culture, heavily influenced by the hip-hop community has grown to form a very generic side of style. During the recent months, I started to focus on how each garment was made, and how they fit on me. “Why are you always in black?” is definitely one of the top questions I get asked all the time, now I am more into layering as it feels like I am making a statement, having different layers of black just feels somewhat sculptural and it attracts the eye. In regards to inspiration, mine would definitely be Richard Owens, Oliver Rousteing and some of my favourite rappers which include Travis Scott and many more. Recently, the trend of high fashion sneakers came into play. My first pair of high fashion sneaker was the Saint Laurent high-tops, because I have always loved the work of Heidi Slimane. Sneakers are definitely a big part of my monochromatic wardrobe. In my opinion, a good pair of sneakers could compliment your outfit so well; sometimes I dress according to the sneakers I have decided to put on for the day. A good pair of sneakers could not only last you years, but some designer sneakers would definitely suit both a casual and a semi-formal fit. I look for a silhouette I personally like when I choose to buy a pair of sneakers. Although the majority of my sneakers are based on a monochromatic palette, I am still into some outstanding colours on sneakers, such as the Ricardo Tisci x Nike shoes I have recently purchased. Currently, my top 3 favourite designer houses would definitely be Rick Owens, Balmain and Maison Martin Margiela. High fashion is not for everyone, but I love it, and I often try to infuse my streetwear style with my high fashion style. It works, and fashion is definitely fun, something I still don’t know a lot about, and looking forward to grow as a fashion enthusiast.
