CHAT WITH KONCEPT
Coming from Brooklyn, Koncept has been in Portland for a few months working on upcoming projects. We got a chance to catch up with him to see what's in store for 2015. Catch him TWICE this week! You're semi new to Portland, how has the city been treating you?
It's been great! You can really feel the culture and the creativity that circulates around the city. It's been inspiring to be right in a city vibe, but still have trees and mountains and snow surrounding me.
And I can get on my snowboard in just about an hour drive.
Have you found a favorite food spot yet?
Before I say a spot and people criticize me for not knowing enough yet (laughs), I'll say that Sizzle Pie is awesome because it's pretty damn close to NY pizza and being able to walk to it from my place is a great plus. The Bloody Mary's at Doug Fir are pretty incredible too.
What's on the agenda for 2015? We know it's going to be a huge year for you!
We're getting ready to launch Koncept & J57 everything. Me on all vocals and raps, and J57 on all production. Everything is sample-free and it's the best music we've ever made.
Koncept & J57 "Jump" is dropping in March right before we hit SXSW.
"The Fuel" EP is dropping this Spring in April/ May.
That's the fire starter for our full length album, "Flight" that we recorded with Red Bull at their LA Studio. Time is now!
Coolest moment of 2014?
2014 has been a great year!
We did a Koncept & J57 full nationwide tour around the US. 30 plus cities of incredible fans. We played SXSW with Ty Dolla $ign.
I also stayed in Justin Bieber's house in LA for awhile. Probably one of those. Haha
