Last Sunday at StudioNia, the lofty room downtown, usually used for fitness classes, was permeated with mellow people looking for a good time. The transformation from studio to event space is striking, resembling a party you'd stumble upon somewhere in New York or LA. The first installment of the OUT OF SERVICE series showed a lot of potential for good things to come. We're definitely excited about it on our end. These types of environments are seldom found in a city filled with EDM lovers and indie rock types with concerts usually held in seemingly rundown venues.https://soundcloud.com/jusmoni/axelaJusMoni of Seattle started it off right, combining Moni's beautiful voice with Stasia on the decks, they resemble a new-soul wave of the old DJ/MC combo. Sometimes experimental with their blend of sounds, it beautifully unfolds into a sincere journey of understanding love and romance. Eden Hagos played 'til the night was over. Downside of having a late set on Sunday is that most people had to dip to make sure they made it to their jobs the next day. Besides that, her set showed off her lovable personality and flavored taste for forward thinking music. Hopefully the next time around Portland is more enlightened to the Soulection movement and will turn out to show some love.https://soundcloud.com/edenhagos/elsewheremix The Chief & Greet the night before, at Service, provided a relaxed atmosphere to loosen up and get your groove on. Tunes were curated by the homie QUAZ giving us a chance to meet Eden Hagos. Overall, we're looking forward to more OUT OF SERVICE sessions/Chief & Greets which provide a breath of fresh air to the Portland scene.
