YOGA AT YOUR CORE

When you walk into one of the two CorePower Yoga locations, you are hit by a warm, inviting Zen that surrounds your body and takes over your senses. Instantly you feel your tension evaporate and you know the next hour of your life will benefit you in more ways than one. CorePower knows hot yoga is not a new phenomenon. Yogis around the world have been practicing it for decades, but now, CorePower Yoga brings hot yoga to the people of Portland. We sat down with Sondra Bloxam and Emily Wyant, a few of the lovely ladies behind the scene at CorePower. Even though their chakras are in line and Om is vibrating through their pores, they mean business. To give their members the best possible experience, they are expanding their collaborations with local businesses. Portland Juice Press visits the CorePower studios periodically to give samples of their juices to students and instructors after class. They believe it's a great way to introduce the CPY family to the benefits of post yoga juicing.New to the CorePower program is their partnership with Portland Running Company, where classes are designed to accommodate the runners’ need to unwind, rebuild their muscles and listen to their body.A few of the past events with the Portland Running Company include Hippie Chick Marathon, and the Helvetia Marathon. They also planning to help with yoga warm-ups and cool-downs for the Hood to Coast Marathon in August.
CorePower has numerous classes to accommodate your schedule, ability and the temperature you want to experience. As we chatted in the lobby, people dressed in yoga pants with their mats strapped to their backs came in and out of the studio. They all looked happy and ready to sweat. CorePower makes it easy to attend by offering their yoga goers a Smartphone app that allows you to view the yoga schedule, find locations in various cities and register for classes.Their studio in the Northwest just got a facelift. The yoga space has a fresh coat of paint, the locker rooms received some love and there is an extensive retail section. Finally, we asked Corepower why they love being in Portland, despite the weather not being as warm as the hot yoga. “The people of Corepower love being in Portland because it helps us live such a green lifestyle! The city has an energy about it that makes us recycle more, walk more, buy local, socially conscious products, and support initiatives that give back to the Portland community. Portland is just an awesome network of eclectic people always connecting and helping one another”.Interested? Grab a mat, towel and large bottle of water. You're set!
