TORTA-LANDIA

Torta-landia is Mexican food Portland-ified. Portlandia-fied? Hm...well, whichever the phrase, Torta-landia is exactly that. The restaurant offers brunch all week long. Brunch! The well-established, mid-morn, mid afternoon meal to satisfy all those hearty meal cravings. Us Portlanders love our brunch and what better way to have it than with a plate of chilaquiles (fried corn tortillas topped with two eggs, cheese, and salsa) or a “potatolicious bocadillo.”
In its other Portland-y ways, the mom-and-son restaurant boasts local ingredients, calling upon both Grand Central and Alessio Baking Company for their baked goods. The restaurant also makes room for local artists, often having artwork on display or hosting open mic nights. The key, says owner Kyle Bradfield, is to create a comfortable environment. With so much of what we love about Portland intertwined into one restaurant, it’s easy to feel right at home.
For those looking to whet their appetite at other meal times, lunch and dinner can be had with a choice of tacos, burritos, tortas and of course, margaritas. This is an especially good deal during the happy hour, which goes from 11am-5pm Tuesday-Friday and again from 9pm-close Tuesday-Sunday. In the off chance you do miss happy hour, don’t fret. Most everything is under $10.
Our recommendation for a sweltering, sunny Friday: catch happy hour while giddily sitting at a picnic bench, jalapeno margarita in hand
Our recommendation for the cloudy day before work: wrangle some friends into Quizzy trivia on Sundays. Make sure to spend the week prior texting witty suggestions for team names (starting....now!)
