Some of you may be back at your desks after the holiday/food coma/sweat pants are okay all day state that was occurring earlier this week, and some of you still may be in that heavenly state for a few more days. Whether you are cuddled up in your onesie on the couch, or back at work internet browsing, here’s a little something for your reading pleasure. We really could not be any more grateful or happy about 2012 and the chaos that came with it. In eight short months, we’ve had the opportunity to meet some of the greatest, most interesting, all-around loveliest people in this fine city after launching EYES + EDGE in May. E+E wants to thank all of you loyal readers, local businesses and the randoms who still aren’t quite sure how they stumbled upon us (hint: it might have been via your “goating” or “Bill Murray can crash here” Google search—not lying when we say those have been some of the most popular trackbacks to date). Whatever twist of fate brought you here (we are going to go ahead and call it destiny), we’re glad you found us.These are just a few of our favorite articles from the last eight months. HAPPY NEW YEAR! May 2013 bring you all the achievements/healthy eating/one-night stands you’ve been hoping for!1. Men with Edge - Preston Browning of Salvage Works explains a “what-not” and manages to use the terms “dandy dirtbag” and “doohickey” in the same interview.2. Finding Portland - If you are a fan of Portland, you’ll be a fan of this time-lapse video. Even more gorgeous each time you watch it.3. Urban Goating - Somehow this article on goats quickly became one of our most-read articles. We are still scratching our heads on this one, but love it nonetheless.4. Unplanned America - Holly and Delia, founders of E+E, had the pleasure of accommodating two very unexpected (or one could say, unplanned) ex-MTV, Aussie producers who were in the middle of a trip through America. Spoiler alert—this is not in the least a well-written, put-together interview, considering it happened over a conversation that went sort of like this: “We should just interview you guys”, and a response that went something like this: “Yeah, we can talk about all the penises we’ve seen here”. Regardless, it’s a must-read, just to see the hilarious videos documenting their crazy encounters.5. MR. MAN Part 1 - Get all the answers to our very important questions from some of Portland’s top retailers/designers/makers.6. “Creative” Yelp Reviews - We use Yelp a lot for the obvious reasons, but we were continually surprised by the more random, underlying, drop dead funny reviews that we’d come across every so often. They needed to be shared with you all.7. Meet Scarlet - Interview with a Portland stripper. That’s all we need to say.8. Hello Stranger - We got personal with some craigslisters and were blown away by some of the crazy serendipity.9. Figureplant - When Fabrication Meets Innovation - This is probably one of the best examples of places we feel so lucky to have stumbled across and to have heard their story firsthand. This is definitely a must-read for all of you who probably never even knew this was right here in Portland. Plus, you can watch how they built an actual Kenyan slum for Nike. Impressive to say the least.
