Right around the same time E+E got off the ground, so did another company - Commonwealth Vintage Rentals. They specialize in unique vintage pieces that you can rent for any event. From the beginning, we have been blown away with their simplistically perfect style. We have watched the company grow + been honored to work with them a few times! They styled our Launch Party last August at Union/Pine, we swooned over their booth at Spokenfor and were even extras in their Faux Wedding for their promotional video. As their vintage rental collection has grown, so has the services they offer. They now provide coordinating, designing and building events from the ground up. Basically, they will make your event look so beautiful you won't be able to stand it.
That's why we are so excited to share a space with them in the Schoolhouse Electric Building off of NW Nicolai St. One big perk of sharing an office with them is being surrounded by their beautiful vintage pieces everyday. That and working alongside the creative ladies, Liz and Rachel. We got a short Q+A with them before they ran off to put their design magic into another event.E+E: Trend wise, what's in?Commonwealth: We have rented a lot of industrial and reclaimed wood pieces this season. We have made a few tables which have been very popular. The vintage school chairs are also favorite pieces for our clients. Ottomans, especially our DIY Pendleton one is a staple. (This project was featured on Design*Sponge.)E+E: What are some of your favorite pieces?CW: There are a few Southwest pieces that we love. They don't get rented as much as we think they should, but the authentic embroideries really speak to us.
E+E: What are some things people don't know about CW?CW: We can create backdrops and custom pieces. If you can't find what you are looking for in our inventory - either for your wedding or event - we can help you. Also, we recently began offering conceptualized event planning and execution to help your vision come across flawlessly. We have been collaborating to created styled videos which are really fun.
E+E: Finally, what's the craziest thing that has ever happened on the job?CW: We had a last minute event and got the called the morning of. The client wanted a few sofas so we thought we could save time and fit it into Liz's car. We started to load one of the sofas and quickly realized it was too wide for the car but we had no time to stop, rent a truck and deliver it to the event. So, the only logical thing to do was to strap it to Liz's car. Ha! We parked around the corner from the event venue so no one would see us. Since then, we don't risk it. We rent a truck.Come visit us anytime!EYES + EDGE @ Commonwealth HQSchoolhouse Electric2181 NW Nicolai St.Portland, OR 97210
