Let’s face it ladies, we’ve all spent entirely too much energy hunting for that perfect cosmetic combination. Well, the search is over!  Deborah Haynes and her team at Blush Beauty Bar on Northwest 23rd Avenue are taking matters into their own hands and giving Portland’s cosmetic boutique scene a makeover. With over 16 years of experience, Deborah has developed a true understanding of the importance of individuality when it comes to beauty products. She had this in mind when she created Blush Beauty Bar, a cosmetic boutique designed to eliminate the hassle of hunting for that perfect product. Deborah has compiled a team of experienced, creative consultants who are knowledgeable and eager to help. Aside from the bright, cheerful atmosphere Blush Beauty Bar maintains, the first thing we noticed was the extensive collection of products on display. Among these products are:Pavo by Lil Lambert: Made by Lilly and was Lucky Magazine’s top choice. Deborah from Blush Beauty Bar describes this as a “man magnet.” Launching in 2007, it’s still a top seller at Blush Beauty Bar. The scent is sensual and seductive with fragrances of warm notes.Pacifica: This internationally sought after fragrance line is created right down the street in PDX and all the products come from the great state of Oregon. They capture everything beautiful in nature, all in a tiny bottle you can toss in your purse. Want to know more about Pacifica? Check out our full article on the company!

Treat: This lush beauty care line creates everything to make your body feel amazing and to add to their line, they are coming out with a new face oil in the upcoming months.

Lash Sleeve: Local mascara and perfect summer products. This mascara creates a tube around your lash for the perfect waterproof option. You can swim, play and shower in this mascara and it won’t come off until you’re ready with a bit of warm water and a cotton ball.  It’s also eco-friendly and breaks down in the septic tank better than other alternatives -yes, they have research to back that statement! “Not all mascaras are created equal.”With the knowledge needed to select the best and most effective products, the Blush Beauty Bar team lines their shelves with upscale and local merchandise. Deborah recognizes the “unique beauty in absolutely everyone” and has created a platform to guide us in flaunting that beauty in our own individual way. This vision has truly transformed the process of shopping for beauty products, which makes us all the more honored to have had the opportunity to chat with the woman behind it all.E+E: Where did the vision of Blush Beauty Bar come from?DH: Everyone has a different vision of beauty. That’s where this vision started. I wanted to be able to capture beauty for each individual customer.I have been in the industry for a long time. After traveling all over the US I still felt that beauty needed to be approached in a different way. The shopping experience was still geared toward what the company was pushing, what the new product was, or whatever the hot trend was off the runway. Beauty was being dictated to us.E+E: What is the most rewarding part of this career for you?DH: Celebrating the customers vision of beauty. This is about you, the customer, your lifestyle and what you find beautiful. It’s not about anybody else. It’s all about lifestyle appropriateness. How active are you? How much time are you going to spend doing makeup? We have a simple message to all women: You’re beautiful already, let’s just enhance a few things. It’s not about changing how you look right now, it’s about enhancing the beautiful features you possess already. The beauty business is not black and white. There’s a whole array of colors in there!E+E: What do you think gives Portland edge?DH: I believe Oregon has been true to its spirit since the day Lewis and Clark set foot here. It is the spirit of the state that makes the edge. The truth of the matter is, Oregon has always been a maverix state. We were the first state to do the Bottle Bill and recycle materials. There are more women owned businesses here than anywhere else per capita in the United States. We have always been on the edge and that’s the spirit of the people. Sometimes you may not always agree with what everyone is doing, but that’s part of what makes this state what it is. To me, edge is this state and its people. We create it. It’s not about the  material things, to me it’s about the energy.Looking for all the great local brands and more?Beauty Blush Bar is located on 513 NW 23rd Ave.Need a question answered?
