ABBY'S TABLE

Accessibility. This is the key word behind Abby’s Table. Providing classes, personal chef services,  catering and dinner, the business strives to make good food for everyone. Everyone. For those with food allergies, eating out can be a difficult and isolating process. Abby’s Table solves this issue, offering healthy meals, free of common allergens.  Dinners are also served family-style, with strangers sitting side by side, elbow to elbow, eating the same dish. This creates a fun environment, building community and new friendships.

The woman behind this philosophy is Abby Fammartino. Abby moved to Portland five years ago but has always been interested in food. When asked about how she decided to become a professional chef, she quoted Anthony Bourdain, who likened the cooking profession to being in the mafia (it’s everywhere).  The need for chefs all over the world allowed Abby to align her love of food with her passion for travel. She has worked extensively on both coasts and has also been the chef for a National Geographic Expedition in the Aleutian Islands (this involved breathtaking whale-watching  and harvesting seaweed). The 4-course dinners at Abby’s Table are seasonal, inspired by the weather and what is available from local farms. Abby looks over the ingredients available for the week and brainstorms how they fit together. Dinners are served Wednesday through Friday, with both omnivore and vegan options available. At the end of August, Abby’s Table will be serving a raw food inspired dinner, as well as a raw foods cooking class.E+E: Favorite thing about Portland, Abby?Abby: I love that Portland enjoys good food, wine, beer, and all things locally made.
