811 E Burnside is home to many local boutiques for some great retail therapy. Holly Stalder and Melissa Price are just two of the talents that are constantly impressing us with beautiful designs, fabrics and all around remarkable clothes.Have an upcoming wedding or know of a bride-to-be? Clothing designer Holly Stalder specializes in custom bridal pieces and her work, always in high demand, is striking. We are especially enamored with the pink bridal dress. Draped elegantly, this satin dress cascades down from the model, in subtle layers. There is a romance to Holly’s designs, drawn from her usage of salvaged antique fabrics and trims.  Her work has been featured in a variety of top publications and bridal magazines; Wall Street Journal, Venus, and Modern Bride to name a few. Also, she received a shout out from our favorite Portlandia lady, Carrie Brownstein, who cited Haunt as her favorite local clothing store. To drool over Holly’s work, visit her online at Holly Stalder and Etsy Store!---Melissa Price has never gone the traditional route. SHe didn't have the "watched her grandma sew” kind of thing, she actually had extra credits to fill in high school so she decided to take drama. She soon became the costume designer for her local high school in Georgia. Melissa styled, fit and perfected each and every dress for their Shakespearean play. With this passion and skill she took herself to Georgia Southern University and graduated with an Apparel Design degree.Price and her husband sold their home in Georgia, bought a RV and slowly drove with their daughter across the country to a new life in Oregon. “Everyone thought we were crazy moving from the South to Portland,” Price admits. But when they arrived they fell in love with the City. They decided to live in their new camper on Sauvie Island until they found the perfect spot in town. After moving into their new home, Price missed the camper lifestyle. “Everything has its place in a camper. There’s a spot for cereal, for your milk, and for your bowls. In a house, you can put anything anywhere!”Now in Portland, she does a little bit of everything. She works at Haunt, alters vintage clothes, sells her line on Etsy, and helps with production at local shops so she can be a stay-at-home mom.Throughout Melissa’s move, one thing has always remained constant – her clothing design. Her wonderfully crafted designs range from ready to wear to weddings. Her dresses have stunning cuts that will show off your back or your legs up to the hip. She even has bridesmaids and flower girl dresses for the little ones.Interested in Melissa Price’s items? Check them out on here!811 E.
